We need a Graphic Designer!!

JOB DESCRIPTION: Graphic Designer

EVENT TO BE PROMOTED:
A Bit Of A Do – a 3-day mini-festival of performance by artists and companies with and without disability. The event is funded by Arts Council England and Croydon Council. A Bit Of A Do will take place at Stanley Halls in South Norwood (Croydon) from 14 to 16 September. It is an accessible and integrated festival of work by artists both with and without disabilities. Now in it’s second year, the event will include work by Lost Voice Guy, Moxie Brawl, Ursula Martinez, DISCO DISCO, Aby Watson, Reach Theatre, Non Applicables and Zoe McWhinney. The festival will also include front of house staff with
learning disabilities, who have taken part in training with Willow Learning for Life and Croydon Mencap, as well as a bar selling Ignition Beer (Lewisham) brewed by people with learning disabilities.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
You will be responsible for:
• Creating a publicity design for ‘A Bit of a Do II’ festival – to be used to promote and market the event.
• Creating designs for print and online use, including: A3 Poster, A5 Flyer, A Vinyl Banner and social media headers for Facebook and Twitter.
You will agree to:
• Attend an initial meeting with Drunken Chorus to discuss design ideas
• Use your knowledge and expertise to advise Drunken Chorus on strategies to reach their audience.
• Communicate with Drunken Chorus giving drafts of the design and then implementing the changes.
• Thoroughly review design for errors before final submission.
• Work with Drunken Chorus to identify a suitable printer, print stock and finish, and assist with submitting the print designs if required.

Fee: £700 (to include all work, expenses, planning, meetings etc).
Payment: Upon receipt of an invoice, following completion of the work

DISCO DISCO is a company of artists with learning disabilities, led by Drunken Chorus. The group create work at Matthews Yard in Croydon and have toured their performances to pubs, festivals, conferences and theatres. You can read a review of their latest performance here.

• Securing press coverage, aiming to include:
– A feature in major lifestyle magazine, eg Time Out or similar;
– A further 4 or 5 pieces of press coverage, in high profile publications such as Evening Standard, Metro, Guardian, or Arts specific press (e.g. A Younger Theatre, Exeunt, The Stage).
• Planning, developing and implementing a PR strategy, including creative ways to:
– Promote the event and ensure attendance;
– Raise awareness of DISCO DISCO and Drunken Chorus;
– Engage partners in the arts sector and the local community.
• Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
• Collating and analysing media coverage
• Regular communications with Drunken Chorus with updates
• Liase with Drunken Chorus and graphic designer about any visual promotional materials created
• Liase with Drunken Chorus on a social media plan, with focus on how to utilise press coverage within social media activity.

Fee: £1,000 (to include all work, expenses, planning, meetings etc).

Join us! PAID INTERNSHIP with Drunken Chorus

Drunken Chorus is seeking a recent graduate or emerging arts professional to act as an intern across two current projects – our DRUNKEN NIGHTS series and our work with Club Soda. The internship will stretch over 5 months, but will be an uneven pattern of work (see below).

This is an exciting new phase for Drunken Chorus, and as such we are looking for a passionate intern, to form a key member of the company and take an active interest in all elements of our work.

We are seeking a mutually beneficial relationship with an intern, and will therefore provide in-depth support and mentoring, working towards key learning outcomes. We will also continue to support your future career after your time working with us has finished – providing advice for applications and interviews, and working with you to understand your career options.

The intern will be expected to work for 20 half-day sessions (usually 3 hours). In return we will pay a you £20 per session (£400 in total).

ROLE:

Club Soda: You will assist on devised theatre workshops with a group of around 10 adults with learning disabilities. Based at Matthew’s Yard in Croydon.
Every Monday from 13 Oct to 8 Dec 2014, 5pm-7pm

DRUNKEN NIGHTS: You will take the lead on audience monitoring and evaluation for DRUNKEN NIGHTS – our performance events in pubs. This will include 5 sessions in the office (Rich Mix, Shoreditch), 3 evenings in a London pub, 2 evenings in a Lancaster pub (Drunken Chorus will cover accommodation and travel). *Please note: the below dates have been changed.

WANTED: Associate Producer

Drunken Chorus would like to hear from individuals who are interested in working with the company as an Associate Producer.

We are looking for someone who can work with us on a project-by-project basis, beginning with a new show in 2013. Whilst there will be a full fee for the producer worked into the main budget (ITC rates), there will be a small amount of unpaid work at the start of the project – i.e. meetings with partners, collaborators and funders.

We are keen to establish an ongoing relationship with an Associate Producer, which may extend into our other projects for 2013 and beyond. It is expected that the position will begin to expand to include work on our ongoing DRUNKEN NIGHTS project, as well as future performances, touring and community work.

The Associate Producer will work very closely with the Artistic Director and the Co-Director of the company. The role will include some initial fundraising (alongside the directors) and establishing relationships with venues and partners, as well as marketing, press, budget management etc. The producer will be present at meetings, rehearsals, events and performances, supporting the directors and performers as they make the work
